MISSION STATEMENT
Our Mission... Is to act as a creative and responsive export department for manufacturers in the electrical, mechanical, and communication industries.
We will implement effective global strategies utilizing a proactive and culturally sensitive sales force, supported by a continually improving operations and credit management system. We will continue to strive to meet our manufacturers’ needs and objectives by matching them with the most appropriate domestic and overseas distributors and international OEMs.
Where Will We Be Tomorrow? In briefest terms, EMSI will be wherever the current market potential lies at the time.
We will be where
the market action is, demonstrating our flexibility and adaptability by refocusing when events and the realities of the marketplace dictate that we do so.
Follow the Market
Spanning the two decades that EMSI has been in existence, we have followed the global market, because the market is never wrong.
Our proximity to the markets we serve gives us the advantage of an early warning system relative to shifts in trade patterns. Existing and potential markets — whether in geographic pr product terms — are moving targets; they never stand still, and we can’t afford to.
This is, in essence, the charter of our New Market Development Department — plotting the future of the markets we serve, the possible emergence of new ones, and a timeframe that extends out well past the turn of the century and
even beyond.
When we think about markets, we think in terms of new services, new geographic locations, new product opportunities.
With regard to services, we intend to offer the manufacturer assistance in the arranging of
licensing agreements abroad. Once a manufacturer’s product has gained recognition and acceptance in a foreign country, if there’s enough volume and if raw materials are readily available there, it may be more cost effective and
expeditious for the manufacturer to license another party to produce the product locally.
We see this a developing trend, and it is logical that once EMSI has established the manufacturer’s brand awareness we can help with
arrangements for licensing and continue to fine-tune the operation.
Beyond this, EMSI plans to assist manufacturers to set up joint ventures overseas or to advise them on the acquisition of existing manufacturing
facilities. We see our role here as that of a consultant in taking the manufacturing company international and continuing to service their products as before.
’Up Market’ Targets
And in terms of product areas, we have focused closely on emerging high-tech markets, an on new developments in areas such as power transmission and distribution equipment and lighting. Listening to our customers and
noting the initiatives being undertaken by many of our manufacturer partners, we have moved aggressively into data communications and telecommunications in particular, given their obvious potential as long-term, solid growth
markets. Generally speaking, we anticipate a distinct “up-market” reemphasis --- zeroing in on the higher technology lines of product, and providing the value-added services and support they require.
Bottom Line It is our conviction that the bottom line in international rep work is that you have to invest part of today’s commission dollars in future market development.
To concentrate on one or two presently lucrative markets without keeping an open mind about the ever-changing global scene is to court disaster.
But whatever goals we choose to pursue, the main thrust will be to do so with the
same adaptability and flexibility we have demonstrated in the past, and to continue to operate in whatever markets with the geopolitical attitude we have developed over a period of 20 years.
